Can Hubs with 5 on 4-3/4 Bolt Pattern be Replaced with 5 on 4-1/2 Bolt Pattern Hubs on Trailer

Question:

1998 heartland 7000 gavw trailer. It has dual axles and came with 15 inch 5 on 4.75 wheels on it. Can I change hubs and drums and put 4.5s on it. I dont know what kind of axles are under it, cant find any markings other than W5 on a drum.

Since your trailer has a 7,000 pound GVWR there's a good chance it's equipped with two 3,500 pound axles. If this is the case then you can replace your existing hubs with the etrailer.com # AKHD-545-35-K. This hub and drum assembly uses the # L68149 inner bearing (1.378" inner diameter) and # L44649 outer bearing (1.063" inner diameter) that's commonly used on 3,500 pound axles.

You can verify fitment onto your current spindles by either checking for the numbers stamped inside the existing bearings for your hubs or by measuring the bearing inner diameters to make sure they match this. To do this you would just need to pull one of the hubs and remove the bearings. If you measure the inside diameters you will want to use a digital caliper since it needs to be exact to 3 decimal places(thousandths). If you find that they have different numbers or have different diameters please let me know and I will be happy to locate a suitable alternative if available.

I have attached a short video review on this hub and drum that you can check out as well.
