What Needs to be Trimmed to Install etrailer Hitch on 2018 Honda CR-V
Question:
In the directions that came with the E98848 the diagram indicates that you need to cut a section of the fascia that is 3inch by 1.375. In the answer to a previous question on this site it seemed to indicate that a 3inch by 3inch cut needed to be made, In either case I am confused as to the reference point for the 1.375inch or 3inch as the case may be. Is it a distance measured vertically? Is it measured from the leading edge of the fascia? Or something else?

Expert Reply:
The 3 inch dimension that needs to be cut from the rear bumper to install the etrailer.com hitch part # E98848 that you referenced is measured from the edge of the fascia and matches the angle of it. So the square cut would measure 3 inches. If you were to cut it 3 inches vertically when you measured on the fascia and matched the angle of it the cut would be much longer.
