How To Determine How to Wire New Lights

Question:

I have 1970 pop-up camper. I replaced the taillights. Everything worked before except a burned pass. bulb tail light. The old taillight assembly has a black and red wire coming from the light socket and green wire grounded to the steel mounting plate. The new taillight has a black and green wire coming from the light socket and white wire grounded to part the light socket assembly. The new mounting plate is plastic. I hooked up all wires respectively. Black to black,Red to green and green to white. All the lights work except for the lights on the sides of the camper amber lights toward the frontred lights toward the rear Help please, thanks

Wire colors are not universal so the only way to determine how to wire up your lights is to use Circuit Tester # PTW2979 to find out the functions of your wires and hook up your lights accordingly. I could not find an order number for you so I can't determine which lights you purchased from us that you are looking for specific help with.

For example, the LED RV Tail Light # RVSTLB61 and # RVSTLB60 have a white wire for a ground wire, a green wire for the tail light and black wire for stop and turn signal and you would spice them to the appropriate circuit on your trailer.
