Installing BoatBuckle G2 Retractable Ratcheting Bow Tie-Down Strap on Trailer
Question:
Video shows drilling a hole through one of the trailer tube members. Prior to viewing this I thought about getting an appropriate U-bolt and using that. Which do you recommend and why? Just drilling a hole would be a lot easier than installing a U-bolt, appropriate mounting brackets and then the buckle. Regards

The BoatBuckle G2 Retractable Ratcheting Bow Tie-Down Strap # IMF14220 that you referenced is primarily designed to install by drilling right into the trailer frame or crossmember like what you saw in the video. You would just use the included bolt and nut to secure it into place. This is definitely what I recommend doing as it offers a much simpler setup without the potential for various other pieces/brackets to become damaged or worn over time.
When installing the ratchet in this manner it is recommend to use an anti-seize stick like # LT37616 to ensure the nut is properly tightened down.
