Using a 2 Inch to 1-1/4 Inch Hitch Adapter for a Bike Rack On a 2006 Nissan Sentra
Question:
Hi! I was just checking on the Malone 2" Dual Adapter MPG544 versus the Hitch Adapter 1 1/4" to 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver Class II Only, 80303. I have a Nissan Sentra 2006 and need to plug into my 1 1/4" Hitch for use with 2" bike rack. I figured if I could invest in some versatility and options, I would go for the Dual right off the bat, even though I only have a Bike Rack to use momentarily! Can I go for the Malone with my car model and hitch? We ordered the hitch from e-trailer and it was a beautiful install! Thank you so much! Let me know if you need more information, and I thank you immensely for your help! Cheers!

I do have an option for you but neither the Malone 2" Dual Purpose Hitch Receiver part # MPG544 or the Hitch Adapter 1-1/4" to 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 80303 should be used on your 2006 Nissan Sentra as they are both class II rated and the trailer hitch you have on your 2006 Nissan Sentra is only class I rated. Furthermore, these adapters both reduce your weight capacity so you are looking at 100 lbs for the bike rack, adapter, and bikes.
The best option we can offer you would be to obtain a new bike rack, the Thule Camber 2 part # TH9058 is what I recommend. This option will work with your class I rated hitch and it would not require any adapter therefore allowing you to retain your full 200 lb weight capacity.
