Routing a Power Wire for a Trailer Wiring Harness on a 2002 Jeep Liberty

Question:

Just received the T- connector #118524 to install on 2002 Jeep Liberty and instructions say to run wire to battery. I have looked at other kits you offer and say its not necessary to run this wire to battery. On kit #118524 do I need to run this wire?

The only other trailer wiring harness available for a 2002 Jeep Liberty is # 42475 and it will only work if the vehicle came with a factory tow package. For all other models, you need to use the T-Connector harness, # 118524.

Running a power wire to the battery is required because it provides the power to the trailer lights while at the same time protecting the wiring on the vehicle. The connection is required or the harness will not work. Routing the wire to the battery is not difficult and there are a few methods you can follow to perform the isntallation. I have included a link to an FAQ article that I wrote that should help.

The vehicles with a factory tow packaged are already pre-wired from the factory which is why this connection does not have to be made on those models.
