How Does Trailer 12 Volt Accessory Circuit of 2019 Ford F-150 7-Way Activate

Question:

Do you suggest removing OEM wire from plug and replacing it with wire ran from battery positive? Thanks

The 12 volt accessory circuit on your 2019 Ford F-150 activates in a pretty unique way. You first have to connect the trailer to the truck and then using the dash display let the truck recognize the trailer. Also once this is done the circuit is still only active when the vehicle is in drive.

Or you could bypass all of that and run your own wire for this circuit with 10 gauge wire like part # 10-1-1 (sold by foot) through a breaker from the positive battery post to the 1:00 pin of the 7-way.

Thank you, where would be the best placement for the circuit breaker? Thanks again.

I'd put it near the battery as that would make it easily accessible and protected better than at the trailer connector. 6 inches from the battery would be best.

If you anticipate the Ford wiring being problematic with how particular the circumstances have to be for the circuit to be active then yes. If it's a circuit you'd need active all the time then bypassing it would definitely be the best option.
