Can I Remove The Manual Crank Assembly From The Fan-Tastic Vent Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan and Remote

Question:

I am needing to replace a manual crank vent fan on my 93’ Airstream. There is a ThinLite light fixture that covers the fan opening there is a screen on the light fixture to allow airflow through the fixture. My options are drill a large hole with a hole saw to allow the manual crank to sit within the light housing or remove the manual crank all together. The modern Airstreams have ducted ac units with much more space between the inner and outer skins then the older fully riveted ones. I already have a fantastic fan that has been going strong for 26 years in the rear of the trailer so I’m not really interested in another brand fan. Thank you for the help. Can the manual lift crank assembly on the 7350 be removed?

If you would like to remove the manual crank hand knob from the Fan-Tastic Vent Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan and Remote part # FV807350 you could easily. That is the only part of the manual crank assembly that would be easily removable. The knob itself only measures about 1-3/4" tall so if it will fit under the light fixture then you can keep the knob on there and just use the remote that comes with the vent.
