What Is the Tongue Weight Capacity for a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Looking at the specs for my truck 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4WD Crew Cab 143.5inch LTZ I have two measurements for my Tongue weight. Dead Weight Hitch - Max Tongue Wt. = 500 lbs 500.0 min 500.0 max And Wt Distributing Hitch - Max Tongue Wt. = 1275, 1125 lbs 1125.0 min 1575.0 max Wt Distributing Hitch - Max Trailer Wt. = 8500, 7500 lbs 7500.0 min 10500.0 max Im trying to figure out what the actually max tongue weight I can have for a RV trailer. Trailer Specs: GVWR 7,702 Lbs Dry Weight 4,457 Lbs Hitch Weight 702 Lbs

I am not sure where you got the above figures but I looked in the owner's manual for your 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and on page 4-73 it lists the maximum tongue weight as being 600 lbs without a weight distribution system and 1,000 lbs with a weight distribution system. Therefore, if the tongue weight of your trailer (dry or wet) is 700 lbs then you will need to use a weight distribution system. I recommend the Husky Center Line Weight Distribution System part # HT32218 which also has built-in sway control and it is one of the most cost effective options with this feature that we offer.
