Parts Needed to Add a 4-Way to 5-Way Trailer Wiring Adapter on a 1996 Ford Windstar

Some help please. I only see the 4 pole wiring connection available for my model vehicle. I will need the 5 pole flat for my 1996 Ford Windstar, as the trailer I am going to pull has back up lights and the 4pole flat connector does not have that function. I did see the 4 to 5 pole conversion video for the Kia Sorrento that you have for part 20036. Would I need to order both parts C55346 and 20036 in order to have the correct wiring? Thanks for your time.

In order to add a 5-Way to your 1996 Ford Windstar you can use the wiring harness that you have referenced, # C55346, and the 4 to 5-Way adapter you mentioned, # 20036. After you have installed the 4-Way, see instructions link provided, you will plug the 4-Way connector into the appropriate connector on the adapter.

The extra blue wire will connect to the reverse light circuit on the van. Normally this adapter is used from hydraulic surge couplers that have an electric lockout feature. But, it will also work for reverse lights on a trailer. I have included a link to the video you mentioned showing a typical installation.
