How To Convert Dometic Manual Awning To Powered Awning On 2004 NuWa Discover

Question:

I have a 2004 NUWA discover America hitchhiker 5th wheel trailer. I would like to upgrade my manual domestic awning to a electric. When I put that trailer in your guide the part number suggested says it needs a minimum of 69” unobstructed space from awning top rail to bottom. I have 68” from bottom of rail to bottom of trim piece. Will it work or is there a part number that will? Thanks.

To Convert your Dometic awning to an electric awning on the 2004 NuWa Discover you would need a Universal Solera 12V power conversion kit. However, the Solera 12V Power RV Awning Conversion Kit - Universal - 69" arms # LC434724 will not work for the 68" space that you have.

The only option that requires less clearance and will convert your Dometic awning so that you don't have to purchase a new awning piece, is Solera Smart Arm 12V Power RV Awning Conversion Kit part # LC759404 which has 63" arms as confirmed by Lippert.

The cool thing about the Smart Arm Kit is you can add smart features to your awning, like Solera Smart Arm Infrared Security Sensor # LC715124 which has a heat and motion detector for security. You can also add the LED Fabric Light Kit with Switch/Plate for Solera RV Awning # LC674282 so that you can enjoy the awning at night. If there is inclement weather the Solera Smart Arm Wind Sensor Kit part # LC715123 will automatically retract the awning when it senses wind.
