Is Blue Ox Fixed Arm Base Plate kit for 2004 Jeep Wrangler Compatible with Ascent Tow Bar
Question:
Just bought my 2004 Jeep Wrangler to tow behind my Fleetwood Storm. It has a double tube bumper that may or may not be OE. I have a Blue Ox Ascent tow bar and a new uninstalled Stay in Play brake system that I need to use. I’m thinking this Blue Ox base plate BX1120 might be my best choice though the listing of compatible Blue Ox tow bars does not include the Ascent. I’m planning also to use the Hopkins wiring kit for the Jeep. Am I on the right track here or there other options I should consider? For example the Demco looks easier to install though I’d still need to use my Ascent tow bar. Thank you.

I reached out to my contact at Blue Ox who confirmed that the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit # BX1120 is compatible with your (discontinued) Ascent Tow Bar BX4370. I recommend just sticking with the same brand for tow bar and base plate kit. Please make sure that you also have safety cables like part # BX88196 as well.
The Stay-IN-Play DUO # SM99251 is an excellent option when it comes to a braking system. You will need to install the Relay # RM-88400 if you plan on using something other than magnetic lighting while flat towing your 2004 Jeep Wrangler. I recommend the Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267 because it comes with everything you need plus it has provisions to add a Charge Line Kit # RM-156-25 if you so choose.
A lot of flat towing setups might require the use of a high-low adapter to keep the tow bar level while towing a vehicle. I have linked a helpful article for you to reference to see if this applies to you. If it does then I have also linked our selection of adapters for you to filter through.
