Troubleshooting No Power on 12V Wire for Brake Controller on 2004 Volkswagen Touareg

Question:

I was hooking up a brake controller to 2004 VW Touareg V10 TDI and I didnt realize the 12v wire is always hot and accidentally shorted it to ground wire. It was on the stock trailer brake harness. The ground is still good but there is no longer power from the 12v wire. I checked every single fuse in the left fuse panel, under hood, and under drivers seat - all good confirmed with continuity, not visual. I read there could be an inline fuse to that harness but I cant find one. What else could I do?

Aside from trying to swap out the fuse for the 12V wire with one that you know is good, the only other thing I can really offer is to route some 10 Gauge Wire # 10-1-1 from your battery through a 20A Circuit Breaker # PK54520 and then splice it into the 12V wire for a brake controller on your 2004 Volkswagen Touareg using Butt Connectors # DW05745-5. This will bypass all of your OEM wiring and will get you that 12V power you are needing.

I have attached a diagram of how you would hardwire in a brake controller. Just follow the part with the black wire for a visual.
