When Should Light on Tekonsha Voyager Brake Controller Be On
Question:
hello, I have a tech concha brake controller in my 2006 Ford E350 super duty van trying to diagnose if it is working properly. I have power in my black wire I have grounded my white I’ve got brake pedal signal from the red now the blue wire is that getting a 12 V signal when the brake pedal is depressed or the controller is activated the slide. Or what should I see on the blue wire when I activate it? Also the little light on top of the controller does not seem to light up at any time. Is that a sign of an internal problem? Thanks

Based on what you described you do have your Tekonsha brake controller wired correctly in your 2006 Ford E-350 van as there should be 12 volts on the blue wire when you are using the manual override.
In regards to the light on top of the controller not being on, I believe that means you have the Tekonsha Voyager Trailer Brake Controller # 39510. That light (as shown in the accompanying photo) will actually only come on when you have a trailer connected. From what you described it sounds like you are testing the controller without a trailer connected, so the light would not be on.
If you have a trailer connected and the light is not on that would indicate either a trailer plug that has some corrosion that you would have to clean, or possibly an issue with your ground or power connections.
