2014 Tiffin Allegro Red 38QBA Brake Controller Install
Question:
Need to put a trailer brake actuator on my motorhome. The manual says the plug for the actuator is located to the left of the steering column under the dash. We found a plug, it appears to have a gray cap on it with the letters and numbers DTO-4P-RT If you take the cap off there is a square plug with an orange face with 4 round holes to plug into.... what appears to be the cap has 4 round pins that go into the holes when it is on the plug. Is this the plug for the actuator? If not what does the correct plug look like? we do not see any other plugs under the dash to the left of the steering column. If it is the correct plug.... is there a wiring adapter for this plug for say the prodigy series brake actuator?

Most likely what you found is a connector for installing a brake controller but we do not have a plug and play harness that will attach the P3 part # 90195 to it so you'd have to test the pins to verify this. Use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to see if you can find a pin that has voltage all the time and one that has voltage only when the brakes are applied. If those two circuits are present it is for a brake controller.
The black wire of the controller runs to the hot all the time pin, the red wire runs to the pin with brake only voltage. Ground the tester to the constant 12-volt power wire, then probe the remaining two wires. The wire that lights the tester will be the ground, the other will be the brake output circuit.
