What direction should the vent hood open on a 159wb van For the best results and placed on the top. Total space needed for the opening of vent when in use, because I’m having a roof rack made and I need to know how much of a opening on my roof rack. ?? ????

When installing the MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan # MA00-07500K the vent grille needs to face the rear of the trailer. This ensures that in the event of rain the vent won't be allowing water to be pushed through the grille.

The overall dimensions of the vent are 22-1/2 inches long by 16-1/2 inches wide and it fits a 14 inch by 14 inch square roof opening.
