Thule or Curt Cargo Basket on a 2003 Ford Expedition

Question:

I have a 2003 Ford Expedition with a factory installed moon roof and factory installed roof rack. I am interested in purchasing the Thule Roof Mounted Cargo Basket and want to know if it would give me enough room. Thank you.

To determine if the Thule roof basket, # TH859XT, has sufficient space for your cargo, you have to take a look at the overall dimensions of what your cargo needs are to decide. The basket measures 49 inches front to back, 40 inches side to side, and it is 6 inches tall.

On many vehicles this is more than enough basket for most jobs.

You might also take a look at the Curt Cargo Basket # C18115. It is longer front to back and slightly narrower side to side and two inches shorter. It's dimensions are 62-1/2 inches front to back,37 inches side to side, and it is 4 inches tall. If the roof of your 2003 Ford Expedition is long enough, the extra length would look good on the vehicle. But on shorter roof vehicles, it would appear a little on the large side.

To make this choice, you really have to consider the cargo that you will be carrying. I would also add that the Thule has an optional 20" extension piece that can be added, part # TH8591XT, and optional locks to lock your basket to your roof racks in part # TH450400. These useful additions might sway your choice to the Thule. Add on a lifetime warranty, to the Thule, I would sure recommend the Thule # TH859XT cargo basket with the locks and the extension if you need it.
I have included a link to the review videos for each basket for you.
