Reverse Lights Stay On with Pop-Up Camper Using 6 to 7-way Adapter

Question:

I recently bought a 1980 Coleman ticonderoga pop up camper and when I plug it into my 2014 tundra, all lights work as normal except for the reverse lights stay on, and the right rear wont blink for turn signal, or work for break light. Left works fine. I replaced bulb, still same problem. When I hook up to my 2008 tahoe same thing except reverse lights dont come on at all. Even in reverse. If it helps it is a 6 way to 7 way plug. I cannot figure out and need help please!!! Thank you!

If the right hand stop/turn signal light on the trailer does not work while connected to either tow vehicle then you either have a short in the wire that leads from the assembly to the trailer connector or the ground for the taillight is bad. I recommend that you check both of these but the ground will be the easiest to do first.

In regards to the reverse lights, I think this may be an issue with the adapter and how it is wired. If you can let me know which one you are using I may have more insight on this but best option for you would be to replace the trailer connector on the trailer with a 7-way, the Pollak Black Plastic, 7-Pole, RV-Style Trailer Connector part # PK12706 that way you can be sure all of the circuits line up with on another.

I have attached our trailer wiring help article as well.
