Recommended 7K Axles for Raised Platform Trailer
Question:
I have raised platform trailer where the platform is 350 mm raised off the subframe. The whole unit is built off 3 mm box stock the actual frame is 2x3 with 2x3 frame connectors. My dilemma is that trying to find an axle setup that allows for the almost 400 mil of space on ea side. Is that to much space with this setup. I’m want to use the 7k and just remove my leaves and brackets and with such a solid and heavy duty frame is the the crossbar a necessity.

I believe I have a perfect solution for you. I recommend taking a look at the Timbren 7K Axle-Less Suspension System # TASR7KS01. This is a unique system that will fit any frame width and in your case likely eliminates the need for a thru-axle altogether. The independent AEON progressive-rate springs support the trailer weight and absorb road shock to take the place of standard leaf spring suspension. They can either be bolted or welded to the trailer frame for installation.
I have attached a couple video demonstrations just so you can get a better idea as to how they actually work.
For a compatible hub and drum assembly I recommend the Dexter # 42866UC3-EZ and for the electric brake assemblies the etrailer.com Self-Adjusting Kit # AKEBRK-7-SA will work perfectly.
