How to Determine Correct Reese Goose Box and How to Raise 5th Wheel Trailer

I just bought a camper looking to change it over to a gooseneck coupler like the Reese 94720 did not know if it fit my camper I also need to raise the camper a little bit And set it back a few inches more so it does not hit my toolbox. The camper is 06 Jayco talon zx

You may be able to use a Reese Goose Box to replace the pin box on your 2006 Jayco Talon, and to determine if you can, you simply need to know what pin box you currently have, which should be on a sticker or a plate somewhere on the pin box itself.

- Reese Goose Box 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Air Ride Coupler Adapter # RP85FR has a 20,000 lb capacity and is designed to replace Lippert 0719, 1621 and 1621HD pin boxes.

- Reese Goose Box 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Air Ride Coupler Adapter # RP94716-61301 has a 16,000 lb capacity and is designed to replace Lippert 0115, 1116 and 1716 pin boxes.

I have added links to video reviews of each Goose Box for you to check out as well. Additionally, if you cannot find the sticker on your pin box, I have added a link to a help article which tells you how to measure your pin box in order to determine which one you have.

In regards to raising your trailer, you can use what is called an over/under conversion kit, which moves your trailer's leaf springs to the top of your axle and lifts your trailer approximately the same amount as your axle's diameter plus the height of the leaf spring pack (please keep in mind this conversion kit is for use with double-eye springs only).

If you have 2-3/8" round axles you would need Dexter Trailer Springs Over-Under Conversion Kit # K71-384-00 or if you have 3" round axles you would need Dexter Trailer Springs Over-Under Conversion Kit # K71-385-00.

An axle which is 2-3/8" is commonly found on 3,500 lb axles while a 3" axle is commonly found on axles with ratings of 6,000 lbs to 7,200 lbs, which should help you determine which kit you need.
