Does Hot Lead Have to be Run to Battery on 2019 Chevy Equinox

Question:

Is it possible to connect ModuLite power module to the car rear power outlet I have the plug instead of running the wire all the way to the front of the vehicle? Or can I use any other alternative for the power like another 12v battery? For clarity, I am planning to use the trailer lights wiring kit only as a one time thing. I do not need a long term installation and I want to avoid the complexity of running the power wire to the front of the vehicle.

I can certainly understand not wanting to run the hot lead all the way to the battery on your 2019 Chevy Equinox, and while most of the time it is necessary when installing the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118759, if you have an accessory 12 volt battery you can use that if it is a one-time use. However, you should not wire it to any other source in the vehicle that draws power - you should only do this if you have another, separate 12 volt battery that is not otherwise in use.

I have never heard of doing such a thing but it is possible. It may be easier to simply route the wire to the battery and having a working 4-way rather than doing this and then either uninstalling it or - when you eventually sell the car - have a wiring harness that doesn't work.

It isn't all that difficult and I have added a link to a help article on the best methods to run a 12 volt hot lead to the battery which I recommend reading.
