How to Test for Power to the Tekonsha Voyager Brake Controller
Question:
Had power towing trailer to lake. Plugged in to return home and now no power to electric brakes and no light on brake controller. Ive gone through every fuse on my 2007 Tundra and cant find s problem. I can only guess there was moisture in the bottom of the 7 pin plug on my truck and when I plugged in I shorted something somewhere. Whats the best way I can check to see if I have 12V to the controller?

To see if you have power going to your Tekonsha Voyager # 39510 you can take a circuit tester like part # PTW2979 and check the black wire going into the controller. This is connected directly to the battery on your 2007 Toyota Tundra so if you aren't getting power on this wire you need to see if you can track down that wire to make sure everything is good.
If you do have power on that pin then it sounds like the Voyager is shot and needs to be replaced. For this I recommend the Primus IQ # TK90160 because it is the upgraded version of the Voyager and it comes with a limited lifetime warranty as opposed to the 5-year limited warranty for the Voyager. It would also be best to check the connectors on your Tundra and your trailer to ensure everything is good to go prior to connecting another controller to avoid shorting out the new controller.
