Determining Correct Trailer Wiring Harness for 2014 Toyota Highlander
Question:
How do I know if there is a converter under the dash of my 2014 toyota highlander? Where would I look and what am I looking for to find out?

Expert Reply:
If your 2014 Toyota Highlander has the factory towing package and thus the wiring converter under the dash it would be located behind a kick panel on the driver's side. The converter is simply a black box and will look very similar to the converter included with the Curt # C56217 that you would use if you don't have the tow package.
If you'd rather not pull apart the kick panel to check for this you can also visit or contact your local Toyota dealer with your VIN. With this information they should be able to tell you exactly what your Highlander is equipped with without having to actually dig around.
If you find that you do have the tow package and converter then all you need is the Curt # 56042 that will simply plug into the factory port at the rear of the vehicle.
