Is a High Rise Hitch Ball Needed To Tow With The Bumper On a 2015 Chevrolet Colorado
Question:
Will a 2 inch ball rise ball allow me to utilize the factory hitch that is part of the Colorado’s bumper? A standard ball doesn’t give enough clearance to keep from damaging the bumpers cosmetic plastic cover....

That is a great question but I am afraid this is not something that we have been able to test our self that way we cannot confirm this for you and it would also be dependent on the height of your trailer coupler. However, if you feel the 2" of extra clearance is enough to help keep the coupler off the plastic rear fascia then we do have an option for you but this will be dependent on what size hole you have for the shank and what size hitch ball is needed. For example, the Hitch Ball part # C40034 has a 2" diameter ball, 2" rise, and a 1" diameter shank but I have attached a list of our other options for you.
If you don't think this will work or you have a trailer over 3,500 lbs then you will need to use a frame mounted trailer hitch like the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C13176 as this would be your only other option.
