Is 80 PSI Rating for 5.30-12 Size Tires Correct

Question:

The tire wall on my 5.30-12 class c tires states 80 psi. This seems like over inflation. Please advise. Thanks

Although it may seem like a bit too much psi for your 5.30-12 size Carlisle tires, if the sidewall states 80 psi that is what you need to fill the tires to when they are cold. It sounds like you have the part 519077 from Carlisle which is essentially the same thing as the Taskmaster 5.30-12 Bias Trailer Tire # TTWSF53012C which has a Load Range of C (1,045 lbs at 80 psi). Trailer tires should always be filled to the psi rating on their sidewall to ensure proper performance. Any psi rating higher or lower and the weight capacity/speed rating becomes unknown and you are that much more likely to have a failure. Please note that the psi can and will rise up a bit during travel. This is normal and has been accounted for when the manufacturers approved that specific psi rating.
