I did a bit of research and the 2008 Chevrolet TrailBlazer weighs in at somewhere around 4,500 lbs, depending on equipment. As a general rule anytime you are towing a trailer that weighs greater than 50 percent of the vehicles total weight, trailer brakes and weight distribution are recommended. You should check your TrailBlazer and hitch weight ratings to determine the actual towing capacity for your specific vehicle.

The weight distribution system you referred to, # 66557, would not be compatible with the tongue weight or gross trailer weight that you listed.

Instead, I would recommend going with at least an 800 lb tongue weight capacity system that uses trunnion style spring bars for ground clearance, like part # RP66021. Once the trailer you mentioned is loaded and ready to tow, and you have cargo loaded behind the rear axle in your TrailBlazer the tongue weight is going to increase, but a 800 lb system should be able to handle the additional weight. You should check the actual tongue weight fully loaded and ready to tow.

You will also need a properly sized hitch ball with a 1-1/4 inch shank to complete this weight distribution setup, most likely the 2-5/16 inch ball, # 19286.

I added links to some weight distribution system information and a video that may be helpful also.

If you do not have a brake controller in your TrailBlazer you will most likely need to add one. If you have a factory 7-Way trailer connector at the rear of the vehicle, all you will need is the brake controller itself. The P-3 brake controller, # 90195, would be a great choice and is easy to setup and use. If you do not have a factory trailer connector at the rear of your TrailBlazer, you will need a 4-Way trailer connector, # 118384, and a brake controller installation kit, # ETBC7, to complete a brake controller installation and wiring.

I have linked detailed instructions for installation of a brake controller without a factory 7-Way and videos showing both installations for you to review.
