Question:

I have a problem with brakes. They are new . Just put them on. I have a black and a black w/ white stripe at the axle. It is what came on the trailer. There is no blue anywhere. Trouble is btakes engage but will NOT stop vehicle even at a slow roll. But if you jack up the trailer , spin the wheel and hit brake it locks down.

The issue you are having with your trailer brakes is most likely from a lack of adjustment. If you have manual adjust braking assemblies then you need a brake spoon part # W80630 to turn the adjuster wheel on the back to increase braking power. You will want to do this until there is a slight drag on the hub. If you have self-adjust braking assemblies then you need drive around the block and apply the manual override a few times.

The brake magnet wires are not polarity sensitive so it does not matter which is for the ground or power. Also please note if you have a proportional brake controller it won't put out 12 volts at a stop. Don't forget to make sure you have the braking assemblies on the correct sides of the trailer.
