How to Adjust a Friction Bar Sway Control on a 2000 Timberland SKY28 Towed by a 2007 Nissan Armada

how would I be able to tell if i have the tension set too aggressively? Tow vehicle - 2007 Nissan Armada LE Trailer - 2000 Timberland SKY28

One sure way to know is if the bar, # 17200, bends while you are towing. Also, it you cannot turn the handle by hand, it is too tight. But adjusting a friction sway control bar like this one requires a lot of trial and error. I would start out with it relatively loose and then tow the trailer. If you experience sway tighten it some and start towing again. Keep doing this until the trailer ceases to sway.
Also, you will want to make sure that you have the proper tongue weight on the trailer and that the trailer is loaded correctly. This is your first line of defense against trailer sway.
