Can Lippert 8K Axle be Converted to Oil
Question:
Can lippert 8k axle be converted from grease to oil
asked by: Chris
Expert Reply:
Yes you can convert your Lippert 8K axle so that it works with oil instead of grease. Just swap out your hub and drum assembly with one that has threads for the oil cap to install on. For example, the Dexter Axle part # 8-285-9UC3 should work just fine but you need to verify that the inner bearing # 25580 and outer bearing # 02475 are correct as well as the oil seal with the 2.250" inner diameter. If this fits then the only other thing you need is bearing oil like part # XLPROLUBE.
Please note that you need to clean off all of the grease in your current system as the grease can cause problems for the oil.
