How To Wire a 7-Way On a 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe When Using the Curt Echo Brake Controller
Question:
I have 2018 Santa Fe V6 with factory tow package. I want to connect the 4 pole harness part C56332 to a 7 pole adapter part 37185 but I need power black wire hooked up to power the Curt Echo brake controller part C51180. Where/how do I connect the black wire to power my brake controller? The reason I went with the Curt echo was so I don’t have to install anything in the cabin.

In order to use the Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller part # C51180 on your 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe with the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness part # C56332, I recommend using the 7-Way RV Upgrade Kit for Trailer Brake Controller Installation part # ETBC7L instead of the Adapter 4-Pole to 7-Pole and 4-Pole part # 37185 becuase this kit comes with the power wire that you need to run to the vehcile's battery to power the Curt Echo. There will not be any wires run into the cab of your vehicle for this process.
Once you install the Curt T-Connector all you need to do for the 7-Way RV Upgrade Kit is plug this into the 4-way, run the ground wire, and then run the power wire to the battery so the Curt Echo can have power. The blue (brake output) and yellow (reverse) wires then won't be used.
