What is the Correct Axle Grease Seal for the Dexter 12 X 2 Brake Hub and Drum

Question:

By my measurement with a digital calipers, My seal measures 3.376 O.D., and approx. 2.205 I.D. That I.D. measurement is to the very inside lip. This seal is NOT double lipped. Any help would be appreciated.

It sounds like you have selected the correct grease seal, # GS-2250DL, for your spindle and Dexter hub. The 3.376 outer diameter matches your hub and because the rubber inner part of the seal has to create a tight seal, to keep grease in and road grime out, the slightly smaller diameter is most likely correct. I am sure that if you measured the seal bearing surface, see photo, on your spindle you would get the proper measurement of 2.25 inches.

If you are using bearing protectors or your spindles are the easy lube style with a grease zerk in the end, a double lip seal is recommended. All of the replacement grease seals we carry at this time, like part # GS-2250DL, are double lip seals, which is an upgraded direct replacement for a single lip seal

If you find that the seal bearing surface on your spindle is 2.125 inches diameter, you would need the # GS-2125DL grease seal which will also be a double lip seal.
