This Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 24816 would be the correct hitch for your 2009 Mazda 3. I attached installation instructions and an installation video for this product for you to check out also. This hitch comes with a draw bar and a pin and clip.
This hitch has towing capacities of 2,000 lb gross trailer weight and 200 lbs tongue weight. You will need to make sure that the trailer you will be towing will weigh less than that. You will also need to check the towing capacity of your vehicle. This information should be listed in the owners manual of your vehicle. The rating of the lowest rated component in your setup will be your overall towing capacity.
To complete your towing setup you will need a few more products.
The first thing you will need is trailer wiring to activate taillights of the trailer you will be towing. For that you will want Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring # 118420. I attached installation instructions and an installation video for this product for you to check out also.
You will also need a hitch ball, most likely the coupler of your trailer will be either 1-7/8 inches in diameter or 2 inches in diameter. Because of that I recommend the Hitch Balls # 19256 and # 19258.
