Replacement ST235/80R16 Tires With Higher Load Capacity For 7,000 Lb Axles

Question:

I currently have Westlake st235/80r16 with a 3520 load. I want to buy the goodyear endurance st235/80r16 but it only has a 3420 load. is this going to be safe with a reduction of 200 lbs per axel. My toy hauler calls for load range E tires. axles are 14000 total weight dual at 7000 each

Expert Reply:

It is not a good idea to go down in load capacity when it comes to tires. I recommend a higher capacity Westlake 235/80-16 tire and wheel combination part # LHAW133 with a 3,520-lb max load at 80 psi. The Westlake tire will at least match your axle capacity and is very comparable to the Goodyear quality. The Westlake tires also come with roadside assistance which is not provided with the Goodyear tire.

The Westlake ST235/80R16 tire can be purchased without the wheel with part # LHWL401.
