Can Curt 16k Fifth Wheel Hitch Tow 2018 Coachmen 5th Wheel 371mbrb  

Question:

I recently purchased a new fifth wheel. I have a Curt Q16 fifth wheel hitch...the hitch i have has the dual jaw that overlap each other. Do i need to replace the legs and head or can I use the legs from my hitch and just replace the head? Here are the spec on my fifth wheel: SPECIFICATIONS Hitch Weight: 2113 lb GVWR: 15000 lb UVW 12543 lb CCC 2457 lb Exterior Length: 41foot 9 Exterior Height: 12foot 4 Exterior Width: 96 Fresh Water: 48 gal. Gray Water: 135 gal. Black Water: 90 gal Awning Size: 17

Your trailer at it's max weight would weight 15,000 lbs and your Curt Q16 (or A16 # C16120 based on jaw description) has a capacity of 16,000 lbs so you do not actually need to upgrade your hitch. You are totally fine as is!

If you like the idea of having even more weight capacity than needed and wanted to upgrade to the 20k version of your hitch you'd have to replace the entire hitch as the legs and head are different between the 16 and 20k hitches. So for that you'd want the part # C16140 that you referenced.
