Spare Tire Size Compatibility After Hitch Installation
Question:
Is it impossible to have a full size spare tire with this tow kit? Is that just a factor with the Xterra?

Expert Reply:
On some vehicles hitch installation can mean that a full-size spare will no longer fit. The Draw-Tite Class III hitch # 75107 will allow a 17-inch spare to fit but not a larger size. We show the 2002 Xterra factory tire size options are 265/65-17, 265/70-15 and 265/70-16. The overall diameters of these tires are shown below.
265/65-17 = 30.5-inches diameter
265/70-15 = 29.6-inches diameter
265/70-16 = 30.6-inches diameter
All three of these spare tire sizes will fit with Draw-Tite hitch # 75107 installed.
