Is Check Valve Needed When Installing Hayes Air Actuated Trailer Brake Controller

Question:

I have recently receive my air brake controller and getting ready to hook up.I have read the instructions and Im a little confused. It says to put one way check valves in air system. Where is the air exhausting to the control valve so it dont hold air pressure to the brake control valve and keep brakes activated? Also instructions show hooking in to tractor valve before the air outlet, if that is the tractor foot valve in the instructions. Air system hook up in these instructions are pretty sad. Do you by chance have Any other drawings for air hook up?

Actually the Hayes brake controller part # HA100400C requires a 2 way check valve only if the vehicle has primary and secondary service lines.

I attached a diagram that shows how the controller wires in as well as how a check valve would get used if needed.
