Is Saris Bones Trunk Mounted Bike Rack Okay to Be Used on 2015 Chevy Volt

Question:

I put the Sarris Bones 2 bike carrier on my new Volt 2015. Seems sturdy and well mounted with one concern. The hatch is all glass and the upper support rests on glass. Will this damage the glass? The rest of supports rest on metal, and the straps support the weight from the top. What do you suggest?

Saris tested their Bones trunk rack part # SA805BL on a 2015 Chevy Volt just like yours and found that as long as you stayed under the weight capacity of the rack you'd be safe. The rack has a 35 lb per bike capacity. With trunk racks most of the weight ends up resting on the lower feet of the rack and not so much on the upper straps. Your glass will not get damaged using this rack.
