Troubleshooting Blank Screen Not Lighting Up on Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Brake Controller

Hi. The Tekonsha P3 on my vehicle the screen doesnt light up , only blank screen. Any suggestions?

If your Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 isn't lighting up at all (as if the unit itself isn't even powered on) then you will want to check for power on the black wire coming from the back of the unit. This is the 12V power wire and it should have power at all times. You can use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to test this.

If you find that you aren't getting any power on the wire, then you will want to check to make sure all your connections are correct. Make sure the ground wire is securely attached. If you are using a custom plug-in adapter, then just make sure the connection is secure and there aren't any bent pins on the plug.

If all the wiring looks good, then there could be a blown fuse under the hood. Take a look at your vehicle's owner's manual to see if there is a fuse responsible for the trailer brake controller. If so, you will want to check to make sure it's in good condition and replace if needed.

If you aren't able to resolve the issue, please let me know and we can continue to troubleshoot.
