What Would Cause Slide Out Gears to Only Make Contact with Half of the Gear
Question:
I have Lippert components on my 2013 Bighorn . I have 21/2 x 21/2 bar, with I believe the 18 teeth gear. There are 4 teeth to an inch on the track on the bar. There are a few teeth missing on the gear in the back away from power. I also noticed the gear was only hitting about half of the tooth on the bar. The nylon spacer moves on the shaft and the gear has moved over. Will your heavy duty LC123356 correct this problem. I assume I will have to buy the 18 teeth gear LC122739 to replace the 15 tooth gear in the pack. Does the gear just slide in between the spaces and held in place with the shaft? What is the time required on replacing one of these gears? We purchased this 5th wheel in August of 13.

What it sounds like is happening, is the outer tubes, are bent, or are bowing enough to where there is enough play for the inner tube to move, and skip gears. That would cause gears to strip, and pull teeth.
If you can, please send me pictures of the outer tubes on each side so I can take a look, and let you know more definitively.
