Recommended Tow Bar Wiring for 2017 Chevy Equinox
Question:
Had baseplate installed but on the wiring the service people have burned up two sets of blue ox wiring my questions what are they doing wrong? My wife has to drive behind me, not what I need. Thanks for any help 2017 Chevy Equinox

I don't know what the service people are doing to burn up your wiring but I do know what has worked very well for people. I recommend the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267 which will use your factory wiring in your Equinox an yet protect your electronics. I also recommend adding a battery charge line # RM-156-25 to charge your maintain your Equinox battery as you tow it so on long trips the Supplemental Braking System doesn't drain it. I've attached some videos of each install to assist.
You most likely will also want the Roadmaster FuseMaster Fuse Bypass Switch for Towed Vehicles - 50-Amp FMX Fuse # RM-76517 which will provide a simple alternative of just flipping a switch to tow versus pulling fuses each time.
For most braking systems you will also need the Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit - Chevrolet Equinox / GMC Terrain # RM-751439 to allow your RV monitoring system to alert you when the brakes on your Equinox are being applied. This is a safety feature so you don't end up dragging your car down the road with its brakes engaged if something malfunctioned with your supplemental braking system.
