Weight Distribution System To Tow 4700 lb Trailer With Toyota Tacoma V6 With Tow Package
Question:
hi there Ive been looking at getting a Apex nano 208bhs travel trailer and was just wondering if I will be within my trucks capabilities especially for tongue weight I figure that if i distribute the cargo in the trailer so that i will have 10 tongue weight470lbs of total weight of trailer 4700lbs that it will reduced the hitch weight of the trailer as it sits now If that is correct... Truck toyota tacoma v6 tow package - 6500lbs tow capacity -1150lbs max payload -650lbs max tongue weight Trailer -4000lbs dry weight with our cargo weve calculated we will have 700lbs in it including 1/2 tank of water -470-515lbs hitch weight varies from trailer package I suppose -6000lbs gvwr is the trailer but i will never exceed that with what we bring camping WDH as for this I will be looking at getting fastway e2 600lb hitch / 6000lbs tow but if its to close to what is safe for towing then I would go to the 800lb hitch / 8000lb tow if need be thanks

Based off of the truck weight rating information you have told me, as long as you stay under 650 lbs of tongue weight the truck is capable of towing the 4,700 lb trailer. Using a weight distribution system does not lower the tongue weight of the trailer but it does properly distribute the weight.
The Fastway E2 Trunnion 6,000 lb system part # FA92-00-0600 is the perfect weight distribution system for your setup. The 6,000 lb system spring bars are rated for tongue weights between 250 lbs - 600 lbs. You want your trailer tongue weight to fall in the middle of the tongue weight range of a weight distribution system in order to properly distribute the weight. A weight distribution system that is rated too high for your setup can lead to a stiffer ride so I don't recommend the 8,000 lb system.
The Fastway E2 part # FA92-00-0600 comes with everything you need to setup except the hitch ball with a 1-1/4 inch diameter Shank. I recommend Equal-i-zer ball part # EQ91-00-6080 for a 2 inch ball or part # EQ91-00-6100 for a 2-5/16 inch ball.
