How to Select Weight Distribution Hitch for Specific Trailer Tongue Weight
Question:
Hello, I need to lighten the weight on my rear axle Im looking for the best light weight WDH. How much does the Fastway e2 6,000/600 weight? How much lighter would the Anderson system be? In general, is there a way of seeing the product weights of items you stock. When looking for trailer gear, I always check the weight first. Thanks.

Fastway e2 Weight Distribution Hitch # FA92-00-0600 has a shipping weight of 94-lbs including the packing materials so by itself figure the weight at 90-lbs. All of our product pages show a shipping weight figure that appears below the price.
Please note that the actual weight of a WDH like the Fastway does NOT add to your actual tongue weight (TW) load you do NOT have to factor in the system's own weight into your TW calculation when selecting one.
The way to choose the right WDH is to measure the trailer's actual loaded TW with a scale # e99044 and to this measured TW add the weight of any cargo in the vehicle that sits behind the rear axle, such as a generator for example. This total combined TW is what you use to choose a WDH. Ideally the total TW falls in the middle of the system's operating range. Please have a look at the linked video for more.
Fastway # FA92-00-0600 functions over a TW range from 250 to 600-lbs so it would be an ideal choice if your total TW were to be 400 to 500-lbs. All you need to add to this setup is the hitch ball, either 2-inch # EQ91-00-6080 or 2-5/16-inch # EQ91-00-6100. Socket # ALL643216 is recommended for ball installation.
