Trailer Brake Lights Dim with Factory Wiring Harness on a 2016 Jeep Patriot

Hi, I have a 2016 Jeep Patriot and a 1998 Stratos bass boat with factory trailer. My Patriots wiring harness was installed at the dealer and checks out ok 4 FLat. The wiring on my boat trailer is factory 4 Flat and works perfect when hooked to another vehicle. The problem I am having, is when i hook my boat to my Patriot, the running lights work correctly, the turn signals work correctly, but when I step on the brakes, my brake lights will Flash bright for an instant and then go back to standard running light brightness and then do the same when I let off the pedal. They will not stay bright. I have ordered Item # ALEDRST2B for each side in the hopes that this will fix the problem. Any Insight would be greatly appreciated.

The issue you described could be either that there is an error with the factory trailer wiring harness you have now or that it is just simply not compatible with LED trailer lights. I unfortunately would not have much advice on how to test/troubleshoot the factory trailer wiring harness but I can confirm that the trailer wiring harnesses we carry for your 2016 Jeep Patriot are compatible with LED lights. I recommend the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 118552 as it is plug and play as well as our most reliable option.
