Is the Yakima MegaWarrior Okay for Use Off-Road

Question:

What type of mounts are provided for the Yakima Mega Warrior Large, plastic or metal? The Yakima Mega Warrior would be subject to off-road conditions for primitive camping so I am researching for a roof basket that can withstand harsh conditions. Would the Mega Warrior mounts survive and/or is there a better brand roof basket recommended?

The mounting clamps included with the Yakima MegaWarrior Large Roof Rack Cargo Basket part # Y07080 are composed of both metal and plastic. However, I can't say I have ever heard of them breaking before within reason. The MegaWarrior is also more geared towards the off-road community so I don't think you will have any issues at all. Yakima makes high-quality products and they are all backed by a warranty. The MegaWarrior actually has a lifetime warranty. Therefore, so long as you abide by the 130 lb weight capacity you should not be worried about the mounting clamps breaking. In fact, if you were to ask for an off-road basket then this would be the one I recommended.

There are tons of accessories you can use with the MegaWarrior, most of which are for off-roading as mentioned. I have attached a list of some options below:

Spare Tire Carrier - part # Y07076
Large Stretch Net - part # Y07081
Axe/Shovel Bracket - part # Y07078
Yakima TopGrip Paddle, Shovel, or Axe Holder Bracket - part # Y04086
Hi-Lift Jack Carrier - part # Y07077
Light Mounting Brackets - part # Y07075
