Troubleshooting Brake and Cargo Lights Staying on When 12V Fuse is Installed on 2003 Dodge Ram 1500

I have a 2003 dodge ram 1500 v6 4x4. Rented a trailer and their surge vrales locked up. Since i returned it. When i put my relay fuse in for electric brake and trailer battery. My brale lights and cargo lights stay on. Any idea I did have to wiggle plug for it to work

If the surge brakes on the trailer locked up then that wouldn't be affecting the lighting circuits on your 2003 Dodge Ram 1500.

Since it sounds like you added a relay/fuse for your 12V power and it is causing your brake and running lights to stay on I would venture to say that the connector on your pickup or trailer is damaged or corroded. Sometimes debris or corrosion can cause the 12V power pin to jump and activate other applications. The best thing to do is clean it off and apply some dielectric grease # 11755 to help protect against debris, corrosion, and water damage.

Aside from that you would need to check the wiring on both your pickup and your trailer. Look for any places where it is damaged and replace as needed. If you end up running into something or the above solutions don't fix it just reach back out and I can help you out further.
