Parts Needed to Install a 7-Way Trailer Connector and Brake Controller on a 2000 Freightliner FL70
Question:
I want to install a brake controller and a 7 wire blade trailer connector on my 2000 Freightliner FL70. What pig tail harness and brake controller do you have for this application. I will be towing a three car trailer with a total of 6 brakes. The trailer is rated at 18k GVW. Also, I need instructions for the install. Thanks.

In order to install a brake controller on your 2000 Freightliner FL70, you will need a few different parts. First, you will need a brake controller. The P3, # 90195, that you have referenced is a great controller. It has a lot of features including diagnostics and it can be used with electric over hydraulic brakes.
Next, you will need the wiring to install the controller and the wiring to add a 7-Way. To add a 7-Way, you will first need to have a 4-Way trailer connector on the truck. If it does not already have one, you will need to add one.
Check your tail lights, if your turn signals and brake lights are combined, you will need to install # 18252. Installation is straight forward: the white wire is ground, yellow goes to the left turn signal/brake light wire on the truck, brown is for running lights, and green is for right turn and brake.
If the tail lights have separate turn signals and brake lights, use # 119178KIT. I have included a link to the installation instructions for this harness for you.
Once you have a 4-Way installed, you will need to install a 4 and 7 Way Installation Kit, # ETBC7. This kit will provide you with all of the wiring and accessories you will need to install a 7-Way and wire in the brake controller. I have included links to an FAQ and a video that will show you how to install the ETBC7 and a brake controller.
