Troubleshooting Running Light Circuit After Installing 7-Way 118266 on 2007 Nissan Frontier

Question:

Vehicle: 2007 Nissan Frontier I installed new trailer hitch from etrailer no problem, Installed the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 7-Way Trailer Connectorinch part # 118266, no problem. Went to test everything out and Brake lights and turn signals work perfect but I have no running lights? Im going to check the 7-Way connector with a multi-meter but was wondering if you had some ideas where to start. Have been a loyal customer for many years and at least 3 different trucks Ive outfitted with hitches and lights. You guys are awesome. You know I was just thinking maybe you should put a couple business cards in shipments. Send me a couple, being a full time RVer I get asked where to purchase stuff all the time. Hope you got some ideas where to look.

There are a few things you can check in your # 118266 wiring setup to find out why there is no running light signal on your newly installed 7-way.

First, disconnect the plug from the back of the 7-way and inspect the running light contact on both the round U.S. Car connector the plugs in to the back or the 7-way and on the corresponding contact on the back of the 7-way socket. If either of these is bent even a little bit the signals will not make it through. Please refer to the photo see which which contact to check. Also check the contacts in the plugs on the other end of the harness where it plugs in to the Frontier at the driver-side bumper area.

Next check that the blue relay contacts appear undamaged and that they are fully seated in the harness you installed in the passenger compartment. It is always possible that you received a bad relay but since there is no easy way to test this you can try a new one. We offer this part # C57000 by itself but you can also pick one up locally at an auto parts store if you prefer.

If you have a voltmeter like # PT89ZR or a circuit tester like # PTW2992 you can test the running light pin on the 7-way socket to verify whether the signals are present. This will rule out the trailer having an issue on its running light circuit.

We appreciate your trust and your repeat business. If the steps above do not correct the problem please let us know.
