Availability of Sway Control for Utility Trailer with Straight Tongue
Question:
Will this unit work on a straight tongued lightweight utility trailer? It is a Carry_on 4X6 with a single bar type tongue instead of the V shaped dual bar like on most trailers.

I do have a couple of possible solutions for you, however the Curt Friction Sway Control # 17200 and friction bars like it cannot be used by themselves with a straight pole tongue.
If your trailer is equipped with electric brakes then another sway control option is the Tuson Electric Sway Control System # 335TSC-1000. This unit mounts to the trailer about 5 to 10 feet behind the hitch ball and wires into the brakes. It then monitors the trailer's angle, movement, speed, and other parameters to automatically send pulses to the brake assemblies to quickly correct any sway or side-to-side movement that starts to occur.
If the trailer doesn't have brakes then your only other option will be to use a tongue adapter like the Reese # RP58393 along with a complete weight distribution system that has integrated sway control. If you can tell me what the loaded weight of your trailer is I will be happy to recommend a WD system that will work great.
I have also attached an article on weight distribution systems that you can look through if you decide to go this route.
