Weight Distribution Recommendation for Towing a Grand Design Momentum 28G Toy Hauler

Hello folks, We have a 2018 GMC Sierra 2500 Denali 6.6 Diesel Crew and just purchased a Grand Design 28G toy hauler travel trailer. We traded in our 2800 BH TT which had a much less tongue weight and UVW. We feel w need to upgrade our hitch. We have an Equalizer weight dist. system that is rated for 1500 max tongue and 15k GTW. Our 28g has a tongue weight of 1300 lbs, UVW 8300 lbs, GVWR of 12000lbs. Our golf cart we like to take w us weighs approximately 1000 lbs so were good on the weight there. We are getting some pretty good trailer sway and I feel were also getting some unwanted bounce. Any advice or set-up you might be able offer us newbie toy hauler folks? Thank you so much!

Nice towing rig!
When choosing a weight distribution (WD) system you really want to choose one that has a tongue weight that your total tongue weight (TTW) falls in the middle of. You can find your TTW by adding the loaded weight of your trailer with any cargo behind the rear axle of your 2018 GMC Sierra 2500. Since a properly loaded trailer should have a TW that is within 10-15% of the weight of the loaded trailer this means that your trailer TW alone should be 1,200 lbs - 1,800 lbs fully loaded. Odds are that you are pushing the limits of your 15K WD system like part # RP66130 so I definitely recommend upgrading your WD system.
The only option for a heavier load like you have is the Blue Ox SwayPro # BXW2000. This is rated for up to 20K and has a TW range of 1,500 - 2,000 lbs. It has integrated sway control, is made in the USA, and it comes with a limited lifetime warranty. To complete the towing setup you will also need a hitch ball like the 2-5/16" Chrome # 63840. Please note that this system has a 2-1/2" shank so you need to make sure that your Sierra has a 2-1/2" trailer hitch receiver.
