Determining Correct Curt Class V Trailer Hitch for 2002 Chevy Silverado to Replace Factory Hitch

Question:

Hello, I have a 2002 Chevy 3500 pick up with the factory POS hitch that is rusting out. The factory hitch bolts to the stock rear bumper. Will the C15132 work or would I need the C15313? Thanks!

If your 2002 Chevy Silverado 3500 features the standard factory rear bumper (and not a 10 inch deep drop bumper) then the correct Curt hitch is the Class V # C15312 that you referenced. I have attached an image that shows the difference between a standard and deep drop bumper that you can use for reference if you're unsure.

If you find that you have the deep drop bumper then you will want to go with part # C15313, which features longer brackets so the receiver can sit below the taller bumper.

Both hitches will use existing holes in the truck's frame for a no-drill installation. Their superior black powder coat will do a great job of resisting corrosion over time so you don't run into the same issues you're having with the factory hitch.

Just looking through pictures customers sent in who purchased this hitch it appears you are not alone in having to replace the factory model due to severe rust. I have attached the written installation instructions that you can check out as well.
